The Police Chaplain's
primary roll is to assist the police officer in the difficult and dangerous job
of protecting the public. The Chaplain is available to assist the
officers and their families in any way possible. By building supportive
relationships, the Chaplain can offer counsel and encouragement to the officers
of the Village of
Aberdeen. The
Chaplain offers daily prayers for the safety and well being of the members of
the Aberdeen Police Department.
When called
upon, the
Chaplain will assist the officers on the street with death notifications,
suicidal persons, domestic violence or any call where they think the Chaplain
may be of use. The Chaplain is on call 24 hours a day.
Officers also
refer
citizens in conflict or in need to the Chaplain for aid when appropriate.
The Chaplain offers comfort and counseling assistance to victims and their
families whenever possible.
